Emily Carr Grad Exhibition 2010 & iPhone + Picasa

Went to the Emily Carr Grad Exhibition tonight, mainly for the screening of dozens of grad films. Will probably write a different blog post about it XD.

The other works in exhibition are like an art gallery tour for me, though in most cases, hits or misses, in a sense that either I get them or I don't ^^" The industrial design part was actually quite interesting, but I didn't really feel motivated enough to take shots with my phone until I got to the Fine Arts section. Some stuff I saw are too intrigued to pass by... so started shooting with my iPhone.

It's actually quite interesting to see iPhone + Picasa in action when I tried it. Here are some shots and thoughts =)

Lots of people, drinks, loud music, and smoke. Pretty weird white balance for a shot for the different sources of lights coming from everywhere. Fake DoF is so fun to play with though lol.

Bachelors

Fine Arts Section
Loads of people

17952 Sheets of Blank Paper (This is an actual artwork's title, which does make you think I'd say :-p)

Unclaimed Baggage

iNeed

Paintura-s: Inside Out (This one's funny 'cause when I first saw it, there's someone in the shell-like thing (2nd pic); then I told my friends about that there are artworks in the shell and they went to see what's in there... which is just interesting to watch ;-))

Self-Portrait (I was told that the artist was an accountant... that explains the abacus theme)

Oops, Interior Quarts (Thought this is the color chart in camera tests... turns out the colors are all "specialty" colors... like ashtray or liposuction and all that jazz ;-) Check the list and see XD)

Eat in: Five Days and a Dinner (Somehow reminded me of Julie & Julia for some reasons)

Home (A pile of leaves?)

Power of Choice (I chuckled when I saw this XD)

Untitled (There were quite a few artworks with this title... guess that leaves room for interpretation)

Communication Design Section
The Visual Flaneur

The Tea Project

Water Is Life (I really like how the glasses of water are arranged to convey a message)

Food Rescue (Rather cute ;-))

Umami (Looks really good; also testing the almost non-existent Macro capability of iPhone XD)

Gezellig

An interesting vehicle (front and back... or is that back and front?)

Some CNC Machine... must get this shot... haven't seen one like this since I worked in Taiwan XD

That's about all the shots I took... it's a shame I didn't feel like taking any before the fine arts section... the industrial design part is really really interesting.
